There are no professionals involved in the
management of the chapter. It is managed solely by bereaved
parents who have worked through their grief to a point where they are
ready to help lead the newly bereaved through this painful experience
that is only truly understood by those who have lived it.
We have no religious affiliation and no fees are required to attend
meetings or receive our newsletter. We are supported through
donations from parents, family and friends.
We are a chapter of the International Organization of The Compassionate
Friends, Inc. which was founded in 1969 by Rev. Simon Stephens in
Coventry, England. TCF grew throughout the United Kingdom.
The first U.S. chapter was formed in Miami, Florida in 1972. There
are now more than 600 chapters in the United States. Our chapter,
The Compassionate Friends of Los Angeles, was founded in 1984
and has been serving bereaved parents and siblings in the Los Angeles
area ever since.
